| Lost Wax Silver Casting Process: Each sculpture begins as a small clay model from which a rubber mold is made. Melted wax is poured into the mold and the resulting wax figure is hand worked, refined, individualized and prepared for the casting process. The finished wax is embedded in an investment mold which is then heated to a temperature that burns out the wax. The empty spaces left by the wax are then filled with molten silver. After the casting is complete, the silver figures are ground, polished and oxidized and finished with appropriate findings to make them wearable art, usually pins or pendants. |
